The evolution of information theory in the digital era — Media Theory D final essay
A final essay for Media Theory D at NYU IDM, dated 22 December 2018 on the site's research page. It runs from carvings on stone walls to Wiener's Cybernetics and Shannon's information theory, asking whether information stays the same thing across different receivers and mediums, and how the internet changed the way people process and interpret signals. The site carries the full PDF and ten diagrams drawn for it.

Evolution Diary of Being a TA in Grad School at NYU
A long essay written after his first semester at NYU IDM. He describes hunting for campus work as term opened, applying to be a UX designer in the IT department and hearing nothing, then applying for a research assistant post in his own department and getting it, his first salaried job. Across one semester he covered more than 40 students spanning several professors and year groups, and built himself a booking system, a TA log, weekly reports, canned email templates and outcome analysis, for the reason the essay gives: he could not sit there and merely wait to be asked.

Brewing an Online Coding Course That Fuses Web, Design, Math and Effects
A long essay written after the second Hahow course was finished. He dates the production as a full year from August 2017 to August 2018, starting from the live stream he ran from April 2017, where the chat groaned the moment trigonometry entered the effects. That annoyed him, so the course came out spanning basic web pages, introductory JavaScript, Canvas and effect animation up to advanced Vue, with more than 60 examples and over 400 slides. The essay states what he wants from teaching: a teacher as a lamp that parts the fog so you see the world as it is, and mathematics whose real beauty is that one equation can predict what comes next.

Never Just an Online Course — A Wager on Driving Evolution Forward
A long essay of his own, a 2016 draft reorganised and reissued in 2018. It starts on the day his first Hahow course had been live a month and enrolment reached 1,667, then counts back through three years of commissions: from HTML and CSS into JavaScript, on to SVG and Canvas animation, into PHP and databases for a ticketing system, and finally to Angular.js and Vue.js, where he fell for turning data into pages. The original thirteen-lesson outline collapsed once recording began and grew past ninety, because he found that without visible output the learner never catches the idea.

The Evolution of Information Theory in the Digital Era — NYU IDM final essay
The final essay for Media Theory D in his first semester at NYU IDM, dated 2018 on his own article page. It runs from marks cut into ancient rock to future models of information, drawing on Wiener's Cybernetics, Shannon's mathematical theory of communication and Hayles on the posthuman, asking whether a message holds together once it passes through different receivers and media, and proposing a third property beside speed and accuracy: how long a message lasts. It places messages on a scale between static and dynamic, and names the contemporary tendency as static messages manufactured by dynamic means.
