Nervous System — daily sketch
A little electrical signal, plus a few chemical molecules, / and anxiety is born and grows strong in a faint corner, / so that night was filled with murmurs that could not be muted, / and sleep never came again.

Nightmare — daily sketch
First the rolling stone gathers moss and slows down, / everyday scenery rusts and the steel bars show through, / one careless step aside leaves a puncture wound, / and out of the loveliest gaps of time it spreads / until the view ahead is covered by a pitch black wall.

Wild Dreams — daily sketch
Every moment of reality carries a few wild dreams, / spreading freely across the field of time until they exhaust themselves and twist into shapes that can never come true. / Still, take it easy: without some regrets, life would be far too sweet. / An attempt to put recursion together with a shader, set to slightly unhinged music.

New Dimensions — daily sketch
Adding dimensions, layer upon layer of computation building an unreal world, / approaching reality without pause, and still false. / A test of generating dynamic 3D textures shaped into a ring.

Parallel universe — daily sketch
Playing with shaders again after a long while. / One probability of a world after another, / hidden between the twisted dimensions of parallel universes, / every present moment producing countless split causalities.

Curvy Vine — daily sketch
From a single growth to a macroscopic phenomenon, / changing and vanishing without pause, / never quite uniform, yet blooming into flowers in the end.

Memory Lost — daily sketch
Every retrieval of a memory / changes its content and its truth irreversibly. / Shattered and blurred emotion cannot be regrown. / As time passes, is any of it real, / or only an illusion one keeps rebuilding?

Superstring Theory — daily sketch
Is the world made of vibrating strings? / Hidden in dimensions curled too small to observe, / the macroscopic fact does not exist, and your intention decides what you see.

Fire Bamboo — daily sketch
The bamboo shoots caught fire and are shaking about in a panic. / It occurred to me today that feeding the p5.js canvas result into a shader / makes something like a canvas or distortion filter. / The test looked very cool, so from now on I can draw shapes in p5 and post-process them in the shader.

Gravity Wave — daily sketch

Where code meets interaction design — Bu-Tin EP26
Episode 26 of Bu-Tin, a podcast about freelance life, hosted by Lu Fa, with the guest appearing as a new media artist and as Monoame Design. It covers the Flash animations of primary school, the self-teaching during an electrical engineering degree, the first website commission, and his line that pushing slightly past your own ability is what makes you improve. It also covers the habit of writing interaction design in code every day, and why diversifying beats pure client work, since commissioned work never fully belongs to the maker.

Creative Coding 101 — the third Hahow course goes to crowdfunding
The third Hahow course, Creative Coding 101, went to crowdfunding in 2020. Built around p5.js, it runs from basic drawing and colour through to interactive systems and simulation, with the lecture notes hosted on HackMD. Several daily sketches from this year came straight out of preparing and recording those lessons.

A teardown of the letter-by-letter title entrance on rogue.studio, rebuilt in CSS and JavaScript.
