Graphene sonothermal therapy: a 3D animation for Chang Gung Memorial Hospital
The description says a Chang Gung neurosurgery team working with the university's electrical and materials departments combined nanoparticles with focused ultrasound to treat brain tumours, that Advanced Materials picked the result as a highlight in July 2013, and that the animation is by Che-Yu Wu. The work page on this site files it under August 2013 and describes modelling the surgical equipment and the view inside the vessels in 3ds Max, doing script, storyboard, animation and editing alone in a month, and slowing a first cut that moved too fast to follow. The animation was later shown at a press conference and released online.

11th Intelligent Ironman Creativity Contest, vocational division champion: team Qiangu Juedui
The contest's list of past winners, run by the Ministry of Education, records the vocational division champion as team Qiangu Juedui of Da-An Vocational High School and Jianguo High School. A Yam News report of 6 August 2013 says the Jianguo and Da-An students, exams behind them, entered in the last weeks of their final year and took the vocational title; a Taipei representative office page dates the final to 6 August 2013 at Yuan Ze University. The official pages name the team, not its members; the CV on this site records it as a 2013 first prize, and the team's chant music is on his channel.

Reality Fantasy: a short film for a Jianguo High School arts class
The description is a short manifesto: growing up makes life monotonous, the daily routine suffocating in its regularity, and imagination is the last resistance, so, he says, fantasise. It was made for the arts-in-life class at Jianguo High School taught by Chen Yen-yi. Directed and edited by Che-Yu Wu, with Fan Wan-chuan and Lin Yin-chi acting, Chen Yi-hsuan on camera, Chou Pin-chun as creative director, Chen Hsien-hao on words and movement and music by SENTIVE. Just over four thousand views.

Bakusō no Teddy Bear: concept clip and full version of an original song
A fifteen-second concept clip came first, its description promising a full version sung by IA with lyrics by a friend; the thirty-five-second full version followed two months later. The frame is an anime-style illustration of two girls and a teddy bear. IA is a Vocaloid voice bank, so this is a synthesised-voice song from his high school years.

Wandering Dreams: a piano piece recorded on an iPad
The description gives the date 20130311, the line “An Imagine of Wandering Dreams”, the name Majer, and notes it was recorded and edited on an iPad. The frame is a drawing of a tree walking on its own legs. Majer is the name he signed videos and CodePen work with in those years; it also appears on Root-Lost Tree and Absolutely True.

9th Acer Digital Creation Award, jury grand prize: Colorful Life Key
A Central News Agency report of 6 February 2013 says the ninth award took “check-in” as its theme, drew more than two thousand entries, and gave its jury grand prize and NT$300,000 to Colorful Life Key, an animation by Che-Yu Wu of Jianguo High School and Chen Kai-chung of Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts School; he is quoted saying animation is a hobby and the goal he keeps working towards. The list Fu-Hsin posted the same day splits it into a NT$100,000 creative first prize and a NT$200,000 jury grand prize in the senior high professional division. The organiser's finalists list puts “1, Che-Yu Wu, Jianguo High School” first in that division's animation category, with the ceremony set for 6 February. It was the last of his five years in the award, from second year of junior high to the final year of senior high.

Jianguo Harmonica Club recital: lead in Beethoven's Romance No. 2
Two recital recordings uploaded on the same day, titled only “01125 Beethoven Romance No. 2 harmonica recital” and “01111”, which read as two November 2011 dates. The frames show the harmonica ensemble and a piano on an auditorium stage. He played the lead in the Romance.

National student music competition 2012: Jianguo harmonica quartet, Czardas
The results page of the National Taiwan Arts Education Center records the northern regional harmonica quartet category for senior high schools on 1 March 2012 at Minghsin University of Science and Technology: entry 2, Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School, score 89.9, grade superior, the highest of the six northern entries. His two videos are the free-choice piece Czardas and the set piece What a Wonderful World, four players in black at their stands. The CV on this site records the result as first place.

United Daily News: the digital prince who took an Acer award four years running
Reporter Shen Yu-ju's story, carried in issue 383 of the United Daily News campus e-newsletter. Che-Yu Wu, then in his second year at Jianguo High School, had entered the Acer Digital Creation Award four years running since junior high and won each time; a teacher gave him a Flash tutorial disc in third grade and he taught himself to make digital films; what draws him to digital creation, he says, is being able to build his own dream world. The report names all four entries and prints a photograph of him in school uniform at a computer, credited to him.

8th Acer Digital Creation Award, senior high animation merit prize: Change Life Forward
The organiser's winners list reads: senior high general division, animation, merit prize of NT$40,000, entry 99, Change Life Forward, Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School, Che-Yu Wu, supervised by Keng Chien-hsing; rankings were announced at the ceremony on 3 February 2012. His own description calls it a merit award. The United Daily News report says the piece is about keeping up digital creation under a heavy school load; it opens on a calendar turning in a schoolyard. It is the only one of the five years without a first prize.

Two videos, the free-choice and the set piece of Jianguo's harmonica quartet at the Taipei student music competition, with the competition banner hung behind the stage. This was the city round before the national final; four players in khaki uniforms stand at their music stands.

Kick-off press conference of the 8th Acer Digital Creation Award: remarks by winner Che-Yu Wu
The organiser's news page says the eighth Acer Digital Creation Award opened with a press conference at 3pm on 8 September 2011, at which winning students were invited to share their experience; the same notice lists the day's videos, one of them titled “remarks by Che-Yu Wu”. That four-minute video was uploaded by another user three days later under the title “the winner who took NT$500,000 with ease, Che-Yu Wu, shares his experience”. It is the first public talk of his to survive online, from his second year of senior high.

Jianguo Harmonica Club summer recital
His own forty-seven-minute recording of the whole recital. The description dates it to 7 August, thanks a senior for filming (shakily), and lists the programme: Nausicaä's Bird Man, Paris Diary, Kajima Flower, Spirited Away, Post Coach, The Sting, the Cuckoo Waltz, The Godfather, Takasago Island, Farandole and Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, followed by outtakes and a gift-giving segment. The CV on this site lists the Jianguo Harmonica Club under his musical background.

The story of his contests: a first-person account written at sixteen
The second post of the same evening, written entirely by him. It starts at age five, with a younger sister born with a congenital heart condition and three hundred days a year spent home alone; in fourth grade he borrowed a copy of Flash from school and drew for an hour or two every night; a sixth-grade entry to the education bureau's environmental animation contest took only an honourable mention, so he dug in harder. In his second year of junior high a poster for the fifth Acer Digital Creation Award made him want to prove that play could amount to something, and to buy a laptop with the prize; he won first prize. He entered again in his exam year and won again, then, newly at Jianguo High School, squeezed the seventh award's piece in before mid-terms and took the jury grand prize. He ends by saying he is glad he did not win the grand prize the first time, that the laptop never got bought, and that the contests gave him something worth far more.

Apple Daily: Jianguo students film a message of support for Japan
Reporter Kuo Mei-yu writes that three first-year Jianguo students, Che-Yu Wu, Huang Chang-hsiang and Wang Chih-hao, gathered nearly a hundred classmates for a video that drew close to 1,400 views on YouTube within twenty hours; Wu, twice a junior high first-prize winner in the Acer award, e-mailed the finished piece to Acer founder Stan Shih, who wrote back to cheer them on. The Apple Daily URL is gone; the link is to a blog that reposted the full text the same day.

Blesses from Taiwan: a Jianguo High School video for Japan after the 11 March earthquake
Uploaded a week after the Tōhoku earthquake. The description says the quake and tsunami took countless lives, that the students could not help directly, and that this was the little they could do. Directed by Che-Yu Wu, shot by Wang Chih-hao and Che-Yu Wu, edited by Huang Chang-hsiang and Che-Yu Wu; nearly a hundred Jianguo students hold up “Japan, stay strong” cards in Chinese, Japanese and English. With more than sixteen thousand views it is the most watched video of his school years.

7th Acer Digital Creation Award, jury grand prize: Touch New Future
The organiser's winners list of 4 March 2011 opens with the jury grand prize of NT$200,000 for Touch New Future by Che-Yu Wu of Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School, supervised by Lai Yi-chen; the same piece also took the general senior high first prize of NT$100,000. He had put the video on his channel the day before, with a three-line description naming the award, the school and the NT$300,000 jury grand prize. The United Daily News later wrote that the jury was struck by the craft of a first-year student. The three-minute animation mixes drawn and computer-made images.

6th Acer Digital Creation Award, junior high first prize: Dream Come True
The organiser's list of 31 December 2009 names “426 Taipei Da-An Junior High, Che-Yu Wu” and notes that rankings would be announced at the ceremony, set for 24 February 2010; the archive page records the theme as a digital time capsule and the junior high first prize as Dream Come True. The video reached his channel only in February 2011, opening on a field of gold blocks with the caption “all the money in the world is mine”; the United Daily News describes it as waking from idle play to chase a dream.

5th Acer Digital Creation Award, junior high first prize: Computer vs. Power
The winners list the organiser posted on 18 May 2009 opens the junior high division with “711 Da-An Junior High, Che-Yu Wu, first prize”; the archive page files that year under the theme of energy saving and gives the title as Computer VS Power. The 2012 United Daily News report describes it as a reminder to switch computers off. The two-minute animation is still on his YouTube channel, unlisted, uploaded in February 2010 with a one-line description. It is the earliest work in his public record, made in his second year of junior high.
