Generative charity wallpapers with McDonald's
An account of a generative charity wallpaper project with McDonald's Taiwan. The wallpapers sit on a phone lock screen and can be scanned to donate to Ronald McDonald House. Three works were made: hearts formed by particle physics expanding into a universe, balloons carrying hearts across a pandemic-era city, and a mathematically generated roller-coaster track. The artist wrote rules and let the computer generate many variants, the hard part being that every variant had to look good, which required custom automation for different screen sizes.

p5.js interactive art — a beginner workshop in two parts
A two-part write-up of a workshop. Part one covers what creative coding is, introduces p5.js as a JavaScript-based visual programming tool, and demonstrates colour, shape and variables, showing how OpenProcessing lets someone without an engineering background make interactive visuals; part two turns to generative art. The material comes from a course delivered for C-LAB in October 2021 and later documented as roughly two hours of instruction.

Soul Fish — the creation story
The artist's account of making Soul Fish. Deep-sea creatures with transparent, luminous bodies were the starting point; the form is built from mathematical wave functions, Perlin noise and physics simulation, with fins, whiskers and bones driven by randomised parameters. Each fish also generates its own melodic line from sampled piano, so the piece keeps composing itself. Viewers can steer swimming speed and direction and pop bubbles with a click, each triggering a sound. The article records that the edition of 400 fully minted on 16 January 2023 and that the work has been shown at Taipei 101 and projected onto public architecture.

The Soul Interactive Collection
An interactive work documented on the artist's own site. A vast eye hangs in darkness, its pupil glowing in fluorescent colours and gradients, drawing on Olafur Eliasson's The Weather Project from 2003 and on the brand visuals of the 2022 Solana Breakpoint conference. The piece began at that conference, out of a moment of self-doubt about his place in the field. The mouse moves the work, a click enables sound, and in physical form it is projected five to ten metres across.

Creative Coding Taiwan meetup #5 — AI tools and on-chain generative art
The fifth community meetup, in two parts. Che-Yu Wu discusses how AI tools reshape creative workflow, arguing that Midjourney and ChatGPT work as multiplication rather than replacement and should amplify what a maker is already good at. Huang Xin distinguishes generative art from AI art, treating generative art as a way of making through code with NFTs verifying uniqueness and ownership, and compares the curated model of Art Blocks with the open model of fxhash on Tezos.

Unbound: Ecology in the Age of Machines
A group exhibition at Unit, Mayfair in London, running 9 August to 5 September 2023 with seven artists. It addresses the relationship between biological and technological entities, holding that ecology is not only the study of where we find ourselves but of everything that surrounds us and lets us live. Che-Yu Wu shows the Ecological Fusion series, numbered variants using particle and cellular communication simulations to ask how technological and biological time converge. The show presents on-chain works alongside physical prints.
