The Documents folder on the 1TB drive holds three stories he wrote between grade 10 and grade 11, each with the author field set to Majer. “The Rules Without a World” is the opening of a long fantasy. Its Word file records creation on 23 February 2011, a last save on 14 March, and a revision count of 464. The file name says “The Rules Without a World”, while the title inside the file reads “Roman Rules”. “The Everlasting Nightmare” was created on 14 May 2011 and saved on 20 May. “The Final Destiny Train” was created on 2 October 2011 and saved on 22 October.
The file of “The Rules Without a World” has a title page, a prologue, the text of chapters one to three, and a bulleted outline for chapter four, about 13,000 characters in all. The prologue has a man who stole from the public granary running away with two babies and an old book that will not open. From chapter one the narrator is Romulus, one of the twins raised by a she-wolf; in chapter three he gets lost in a forest and meets an old woman called Rhea. The outline for chapter four has him seeing a book of rules that will not open at a market, and the stallholder giving it to him. Below is the first 1,486 characters of the prologue; a plain-text file of the whole is at /archive/high-school-fiction-2011/no-world-rules.txt.
“The Final Destiny Train” runs to about 3,000 characters and is given in full below. “The Everlasting Nightmare” is only 365 characters, stops at “Was it an illusion?” and is unfinished; it is below as well. The texts are in Chinese and are not translated.
