Algorithmic Poetry: The Meridian of Light is a performance that slows time down. Piano, strings, and percussion interweave live on stage, while every image is generated by algorithms in real time, flowing in sync with the breath of the music. The artist takes the algorithm as his brush and light as his ink, threading countless scattered points of light into lines of flowing verse — like meridians drawn across the world, connecting the traveller's gaze to everything beyond it. The performance unfolds in five chapters, setting out from the first faint light of a newborn universe, passing through a languid afternoon, an evening after rain, the solitude of deep night and its star trails, and arriving at last at the snow and ocean of five in the morning. You are not bound to a single seat. Sit, wander, or lean into a quiet corner with your eyes closed — from a different height, a different angle, the light falls differently each time. There is no formal distance to keep here, only your own encounter with these notes and this light. Che-Yu Wu's practice has long moved back and forth between the precision of the algorithm and the sensitivity of the human hand. Using music as his brush tip and light as his pigment, he hands the elements of melody over to a machine computing in real time, letting the tempo be set by the breathing of the musicians, the space, and the audience alike — so that these unpredictable points of light might come closer to the texture of a dream. A hotel is a node where travellers pause, a seam between one day and the next. We invite you to step into this field of sound and light, and — in the mutual reflection of art, architecture, and this performance — to find your way back to a stillness that belongs to you alone. Among the sound of waves, the faint glow, and the lines of verse, may you see again the self that life has set aside for a while, and that is still quietly waiting.
